Project: Zoning Amendment No. 1-10 Various Amendments to Chapter 17 of the Gridley Municipal Code Zoning Ordinance related to the recent adoption of the 2009-2014 Housing Element. Per the Implementation Strategies of the Gridley Housing Element and State law, the GMC is proposed to be amended to include new definitions for family, emergency shelters, transitional and supportive housing, farmworker (agricultural) housing, apartment hotels/SROs and stock cooperatives. In addition, the following amendments are proposed to the Gridley Municipal Code:
- Farmworker/agricultural housing will be a permitted use under the Agricultural Residential zoning district (it is currently a conditional use);
- Emergency shelters will be a permitted use in the Public/Quasi Public and M-1 Light Industrial zoning districts (they are currently a conditional use);
- Single-room occupancy units (SROs), boarding houses, apartment hotels, community apartments, and stock cooperative apartments will be subject to the same development standards as other R-3 development projects.
- Transitional and supportive housing will be subject to the same development standards as would apply to residential structures of the same housing type.
The City Council may approve, modify, or reject the proposed amendments.
Environmental Review Status: The environmental impacts associated with the various code amendments were fully analyzed in the 2030 General Plan Environmental Impact Report (State Clearinghouse No. 20008072007), which provides the analysis and documentation required for the Housing Element to be in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act per adoption of Resolution No. 2009-R-049.
