WINTER/SPRING

YOUTH WRESTLING SIGN UPS

The Gridley Recreation Department will be accepting Youth Wrestling sign ups for the winter/spring league starting Monday January 9^th, 2012 through February 3^rd, 2012 at the following locations:

            City Hall Located at 685 Kentucky Street                 Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

            Gridley Recreation Center 194 Washington Street    Monday-Friday 8am-2pm

FEES:             $55.00 GRIDLEY RESIDENTS

                        $65.00 NON-RESIDENTS (*anyone residing outside of Gridley.)

*There is a sliding scale for siblings.  Fee decreases by $5.00 per extra child.

After February 3rd 2012 the fee will be $65.00 per child. 

NO EXCEPTIONS!

ELGIBILTY:            The league is open to any children in the following age groups.   Kindergarten- 8^th grade.                     

TEAMS:        Although wrestling is an individual sport, each participant is considered part of the whole team. 

Each participant is responsible for respectfully representing the team at away matches and tournaments.

UNIFORMS: Each child will receive a singlet and head gear.  Wrestling shoes are not provided and each participant

is requested to purchase their own pair. Each participant is responsible to return all equipment at the end of

the season or they will be financially responsible for replacement.

PRACTICES: NEW PRACTICE LOCATION: Practices are held nightly at Expo Hall in the Butte County Fair

Grounds.  Different times will be provided for younger and older age groups. The coaches will be given out

a practice/meet schedule during the first week of practice.

                        *There will be away matches and tournaments.  The Gridley Recreation Department does not transport children.  It will be your responsibility to transport your participant to all events.

COACHES:   We are very lucky to have wonderfully trained coaches.  They currently coach the Gridley High

School Team.  They are Matt Jones, Brannon Byrne, and Lance Andes. The Gridley High Wrestling Team also

helps out with instruction.

FUNDRAISER:        All wrestling are required to sell one (4) Mountain Mikes Pizza Cards.  This fundraiser is

mandatory and no buyouts are allowed.

OTHER:                    Please be advised that wrestling will overlap with the Little League baseball schedule for a

couple of weeks.  It is up to the participant and their parent/guardian on what program they would like to attend.
