The Gridley Recreation Department will be accepting GYSL soccer sign ups for the fall 2011 league on the following dates: Saturday, June 4th and Saturday, June 11th 10-12pm. At the Gridley Recreation Department at 194 Washington Street (in Vierra Park) * After these dates registration will be taken at the Gridley Recreation Department (Monday-Friday 8am-2pm) 194 Washinton Street (in Vierra Park) or City Hall (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm) 685 Kentucky Street.

Fee: $45.00 Residents- For your first child. $40.00 for any additional children. $55.00 for Non-Resident for your first child, $50.00 for any additional children. *After July 31st the fee will be $100.00 per child. Absolutely no registration will be accepted after August 6th, when teams have been assigned.
Elgibility: The league is open to any chidlren in the following age groups. U-5 (ages 4 & 5) born by July 31st, 2006, U-7 (ages 6 and 7) born by July 31st 2004, U-9 (ages 8 and 9) born by July 31st 2002, and U-12 (ages 10, 11, and 12) after July 31st, 1999.
Teams: Teams are put together by randon draw. To accommodate the 350 plus chidlren, the Gridlye Recreation will not honor any requests for certain coaches or children to be placed with other children. The Gridley Recreation Department will STRICKLY ENFORCE this policy.
Uniforms: Each child will receive a jersey. Each child will be required to have plain black shorts. Children can play in soccer cleats or tennis shoes. Football cleats are not allowed!
Games: Games are Saturday mornings starting September 10th and ending October 39th. Location is Sycamore School.
Coaches: Parents, Friends, and Family members are encouraged to volunteer to coach in the GYSL soccer league. Several coaches are needed. Experience is not required but helpful. If interested in coaching, please contact the Recreation Department at 846-3264.
Referees: The u-7, u-9, u-12 will have referees. Referees are needed for the league. Referees earn $12.00 per game. If interested in refereeing, plase contact the Recreation Department at 846-3264.
Fundraiser: All players are required to sell one (1) box (52 bars total) of chocolate bars. There is a $52.00 buyout fee due at the time of registration if you choose not to sell the candy. * If you do not buy out, your palyer will be required to sell 1 box. Candy money is to be turned into the coaches before the last game.
* We are asking any parents who have any outgrown soccer cleats to donate them to the Gridley Recreation Department's cleat swap program. Any donated cleats wil be offered for players who need or can not afford soccer cleats.

The Gridley Gators are the local swimming team. The Gators practice at the Gridley Community Pool on Hazel street. This program is not affiliated with the City, but the contact information is provided for convenience.
Swim lessons are conducted through the Butte County Fair Grounds at 846-3631.
